Reporting a FullSnapper bug

Every capture ends on a result page with a Measurements panel. Copy that panel into the email. It records the height, the duration, the resolution, how far the warm-up reached and what the page did while loading. That is usually enough to find the cause without any back and forth.

Two more things help:

  • The address of the page you were capturing, if it is public
  • What you expected and what you got: "the bottom third is blank", "the header appears twice"

Reporting a PixFerry bug

Four things, and the first two matter most:

  • The address of the page, if it is public
  • The size printed on the download button, and the size of the file that actually arrived
  • The name the file was given
  • Any sentence PixFerry showed instead of the confirmation

A gap between those two sizes is the most useful thing in the report. It says the wrong copy was picked out of the list, which is the failure worth catching.

Things worth checking first

Nothing happens
Firefox blocks extensions on about: pages, on addons.mozilla.org and on a few other protected domains. Try a regular web page.
Private windows
Extensions need explicit permission there. Open about:addons, find the extension, and turn on "Run in Private Windows".
No download button appears
PixFerry ignores anything below the minimum size, 200 by 150 pixels as it ships. Lower both in Settings for a page of small thumbnails. If the toolbar badge reads OFF, the site was switched off; click the badge to switch it back on.
The site refused the download
Some sites will display a picture and then turn down a direct request for it. There is nothing to configure; the file is not obtainable that way.
The bottom is blank
The page was still loading images as the capture ran. Hard-reload with Ctrl+Shift+R, wait a moment, and capture again. The readout says how far it got.
The file is enormous
Long pages at 2x or 3x produce large images. The Size control on the result page shrinks the download without capturing again, and Options → Resolution → 1x makes the capture itself lighter.
